“Future Past: Digital Echoes” explores how digital tools reshape the way we engage with heritage and collective history. Focusing on the Museo El Deposito’s Virtual Reality Room and digitization projects, the exhibition demonstrates how technology is not just entertainment but a bridge between past and present.

Visitors can experience 3D models of artifacts too fragile to display, including delicate documents and reservoir-related machinery. An interactive installation lets guests reconstruct broken artifacts by dragging and fitting virtual fragments together, teaching conservation principles in a hands-on way.

The exhibition also examines the ethics of digital memory: What does it mean to recreate events like the Battle of San Juan del Monte in VR? How do we balance accuracy with accessibility? Panels feature commentary from historians, curators, and digital artists grappling with these questions.

By showcasing both successes and challenges, “Future Past: Digital Echoes” presents the future of museums as dynamic, participatory, and deeply connected to new ways of learning.
