Echoes in the Underground transforms the reservoir into a stage for sound and light. Visitors descending into the chamber will encounter carefully placed speakers projecting the creak of water gates, the rush of filling tanks, and the distant calls of laborers. Paired with dim blue lighting that swells and fades, the soundscape recreates the mood of the reservoir during its working years. It is not a performance in the traditional sense, but an atmospheric experience designed to make the vast underground space feel alive again.
Families and individuals alike can sit on benches placed in alcoves, letting the ambience unfold around them, while docents explain how the reservoir once connected to the Carriedo fountains above. The experience invites reflection—on the silence of a space that once pulsed with water, and on how infrastructure shapes memory. It is open to all walk-ins, requiring no registration.
