For those who want a slower, more focused encounter with Lines on the Land, this limited-capacity event invites a small group of up to 20 visitors per day to join an intimate walkthrough of select maps and documents. A museum guide will open drawers and cases not usually available to the larger public, pointing out fine details like surveyor’s notes, faded ink marks, and the symbols used to denote aqueducts, boundaries, and settlements.

Visitors will learn not just to look at a map, but to read it critically—asking why certain areas were highlighted, why others were left blank, and what these choices reveal about the priorities of their makers. This event emphasizes careful observation, discussion, and dialogue, making each session unique to the group present. While walk-in and free of registration, the daily limit ensures that the experience remains personal, with enough space and time for everyone to engage closely with the material.
